Welcome to Idle Books  Book Search Service

The growing trend for the purchase of electronic books has influenced a recent change in policy with regards to our business  We no longer keep any titles in stock but know that although there is a growing trend for reading ‘electronic’ books there are still people who enjoy reading and owning ‘real’ books. We also know that there are some books that are not, as yet, available in an electronic form.

Please note we are not the Idlebooksellers.co.uk who are most logically named after their location of  Idle, Bradford and specialise in books about Yorkshire.

Our name was chosen as the venture was to be a project for one of the owners, a retired academic; who mistakenly believed that bookselling might be a relaxing project and took the name from the novel by the author Jerome K. Jerome  -“Idle Books for an Idle Fellow”

Are you looking for a specific  title?  Whether you need a book for study or just want to replace a favourite novel that has somehow got ‘lost’, the usual story is borrowed and not returned; we offer a free book search service. Perhaps you want to get hold of a book that was a favourite from your childhood.

Contact us with details of the book that you are looking for and we will do our best to obtain a copy for you.

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers.”

Charles W. Eliot

You may have come across  an idlebooks website previously; we have  had an Internet presence before with an online book shop using a .com address.

Unfortunately the third party provider of this shop can no  longer be  contacted and, although it sometimes still has a web presence if searched for much of the information is now very out of date.  Therefore please use this new site for any enquiries or orders.
